How to get a temporary residence permit in Georgia?

There are several types of residence permit for foreign citizens:

Work residence permit is issued for entrepreneurial or work activities in Georgia. In this case, a citizen of a foreign state must submit to the Public Service Hall, the document confirming implementation of entrepreneurial or labor activities in Georgia, as well as a certificate confirming that the monthly income/remuneration received by him/her from entrepreneurial or work activity in Georgia, is not less than five times the minimum wage established in Georgia and that the annual turnover of the employing / established enterprise (except for educational or medical institutions, for which the floor is GEL 35, 000 ) is not less than GEL 50, 000 per each foreign citizen, applying for a working residence permit;

Short-term residence permit (may be issued for a period of 1 year) is issued to foreign citizens who, on the territory of Georgia, in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation of Georgia, own real estate (except for agricultural land), the market value of which exceeds the GEL equivalent of USD 100, 000 . To issue a short-term residence permit, the market value of real estate is determined by a certified appraiser of the Unified National Accreditation Body.

Study residence permit (issued for a period not exceeding 6 years) is issued to persons coming to Georgia to study at authorized educational institutions;

Residence permit for family reunification is issued to the family members of a foreign citizen with a residence permit.

Investment residence permit (may be issued for a period of 5 years) is issued to a foreign citizen and his/her family members who have invested at least USD 300, 000 equivalent in GEL in accordance with the Law of Georgia “On Promotion and Guarantees of Investment Activity, or who have ownership of real estate (except for agricultural land), on the territory of Georgia with a market value of more than USD 300, 000 equivalent in GEL. A foreign citizen who has an investment residence permit, in the case of investment, is obliged to provide to the Revenue Service the information on the annual turnover of its business in Georgia, throughout the period of holding an investment residence permit. The validity of the investment residence permit terminates if the foreign citizen does not confirm the annual turnover of at least USD 50, 000 equivalent in GEL in the first year of his business activity in Georgia, and – at least USD 100, 000 annual turnover, equivalent in GEL, during the second year in Georgia, and subsequently, the annual turnover of at least USD 120, 000 in GEL, for the third, the fourth and the fifth years in Georgia . A person with an investment residence permit issued on the basis of ownership of real estate worth the equivalent of USD 300, 000 in GEL, is obliged to retain ownership of the immovable property on the basis of the ownership of which the investment residence permit was issued.

Permanent Residence Permit
Permanent residence permit (for a permanent period) is a permanent residence permit issued to the spouse of a citizen of Georgia, a minor child or parents of a minor citizen of Georgia. A permanent residence permit is also issued to a foreign citizen who has lived in Georgia for the last 10 years on the basis of a temporary residence permit. This period does not include the period of residence in Georgia for study or treatment and work in diplomatic missions and equivalent missions;
Perpetual residence permit (for a permanent period) is issued to a foreign citizen and his/her family members who have an investment residence permit, which is issued on the basis of an investment made in the amount of USD 300, 000 equivalent in GEL, which is confirmed by an annual turnover of at least USD 50, 000 equivalent in GEL during the first year of business activities carried out in Georgia, at least USD 100,000 equivalent in GEL during the second year, and for the third, fourth and fifth years, basing on the annual turnover not less than USD 120,000 equivalent in GEL; or to a foreign citizen and his/her family member with an investment residence permit issued on the basis of ownership of real estate worth of at least USD 300, 000 equivalent in GEL, and who has ownership rights for this real estate within 5 years after receiving an investment residence permit.
